Premiere for Europe's most important media prize for integration and cultural diversity: The CIVIS Media Prize will be awarded for the first time on May 27, 2024 as part of re:publica in Berlin.

Journalist and presenter Vivian Perkovic will host the award ceremony, which will honor outstanding productions for television, radio, internet and cinema.

Almost 900 entries from all 27 EU member states and Switzerland were in the running for the coveted CIVIS Media Prize, with 25 productions nominated. The contributions deal in very different ways with highly topical issues such as war, flight, labor migration, racism, anti-Semitism, antiziganism, but also with the self-evident coexistence of many people of different origins, homelands and identities.

This year, the CIVIS Media Award goes to a total of nine entries from the VIDEO AWARD, AUDIO AWARD, YOUNG C. and CINEMA AWARD categories. The best production among all the winners will receive the CIVIS TOP AWARD, which is endowed with 15,000 euros.

The CIVIS Media Prize is awarded by ARD, represented by WDR, together with the Freudenberg Foundation. ORF, SRG SSR, ARTE, 3sat, phoenix, Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandradio and the EBU are media partners. The WDR mediagroup, the Produzentenallianz, the VFF Verwertungsgesellschaft der Film- und Fernsehproduzenten, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the Open Society Foundations and the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie are cooperation partners.
