SINGER SONGRIDER

In the organizer's words:

Where are Bremen's singer songwriters? And what moves them? In times when the pandemic seems so far away again and new big issues have taken its place. What reassures them? The constancy of the Bremen drizzle?

Singer Songrider wants to give space to people who pour their everyday lives into words and sounds. And who we may have already met in the bakery around the corner because they live just two streets away.

We start when the elderflowers are in bloom. This time with:

ELLEN ATWOOD

A classical pianist who moved to Bremen from Virginia, she turned her life upside down and started writing folk-pop songs. They are created in the sweet spot between pain and inspiration. Tangible lyrics accompanied by guitar and piano. Her 2nd album is called Humboldt Street.

OLAF KOCK

Whether with guitar or guitalele, whether soft or folky, the songwriting of the 70s can be heard in everything - one is reminded of Carol King, Bob Dylan or Nick Drake. There are also many influences from current artists such as Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Glenn Hansard, City and Color and Eddie Vedder.

After a few years on the road, she has returned home with her guitar. In the midst of everyday life in Bremen, she often longs for what a sourdough also longs for: For warmth. And time. That's what her songs are about. And about rye, of course.
