He was last a guest on our stage as Steve Baker's sideman, this time Robert takes center stage. Classically, he moves in the waters of folk, pop, soul and blues. The "storyteller" and songwriter from Hamburg will be accompanied by the String Poets, who will give Robert's songs a whole new guise. Cello and violin ensnare multi-layered guitar sounds and merge into chamber pop with a folk and soul attitude. We are looking forward to listening to a road movie par excellence.
Singer-songwriter Robert Carl Blank presents his songs in the context of a band, but in a different way than you would traditionally expect: violin, cello and - extremely varied - percussion instruments provide the one or other aha effect and carry the listener into Robert's world as if on clouds. Lyrical lyrics, groovy elements, catchy themes and rousing melodies that, once you've heard them, are hard to get out of your head. Between the lines, there is always plenty of room for improvisation, which is constantly evolving and growing and carries the audience through the evening with a palpable joy of playing:
The conventional rock band has had its day when you listen to the full, rounded sound of the String Poets.
