Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir holds an MFA from the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam (2006), and a BFA from the Iceland University of the Arts (2002). Her practice spans drawing, installation, and performance, with a focus on the intersection of aural and visual textures. Drawing functions as a key element in her work, often serving as a transitional medium—used to generate scores for voices and instruments. She reflects on the transition from nature and non-human beeings to the human experience. Collaborating across media and artforms she readily shifts the borders between disciplines. The Choir for One drawings, exhibited at HilbertRaum, form a trio interpreted by composer and vocalist Doreen Kutzke, who assigns each colour frequency and meaning. Hauksdóttir has presented her work internationally in solo and group exhibitions. Her work is held in several public collections, including the National Gallery of Iceland, Uppsala Art Museum (Sweden), the Goethe Institute (Copenhagen), the Hess Collection (Canada), and the Living Art Museum in Reykjavik.
