Klassikkonzert - Wiener Melange

Vienna between 1869 and 1874—you can practically breathe in the music. The streets of Vienna echo with whispers of times gone by, and the splendor of the great symphonies still shines in its magnificent halls. Nowhere else can the discerning music lover marvel at so many different styles and composers in a single city.

Just as profound, light-footed, and solemn as Vienna was in those days is the new program of the Studio Orchestra Duisburg.

The concert opens with Anton Bruckner’s so-called “Zero” Symphony, offering a fascinating glimpse into a composer torn between self-doubt and a visionary musical language.

In stark contrast, Johannes Brahms presents a musical kaleidoscope with his “Variations on a Theme by Joseph Haydn.” From a simple theme emerge variations in every timbre—sometimes dance-like, sometimes contemplative, sometimes triumphant.

And finally: the curtain rises on Johann Strauss! The overture to *Die Fledermaus* sparkles with wit, elegance, and exuberant Viennese joie de vivre. Waltzes, humor, and Viennese esprit send the audience home in high spirits.

To ensure the evening is also a culinary journey to Vienna, the Studio Orchestra Duisburg is delighted to be collaborating with the Kurz pastry shop. The family-owned business, which has been delighting customers in Duisburg-Ruhrort for 125 years, will also be treating concertgoers to delicacies on concert nights: After all, a Viennese Melange is unthinkable without a slice of Sachertorte!

Enjoy an evening of dreaming, marveling, tapping your feet, and savoring with the “Viennese Melange”!
