Installation: Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński: O.T., K. T. C. I.

In the organizer's words:

A presentation by Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński can be seen at the GfZK as part of the group exhibition Escape into the Public at the 10th f/stop - Festival for Photography Leipzig, curated by Magdalena Stöger and Leon Hösl. The author, artist and scientist lives in Vienna. Based on Black feminist theory, she has developed a practice in which she deals in particular with the empty spaces in public archives and collections. In her work, Kazeem-Kamiński interweaves the documentary with the fictional and critically examines the colonial past and its continued impact in the present.

During the 10th f/stop - Festival für Fotografie Leipzig and beyond until September 1, 2024, a multi-part installation by Kazeem-Kamiński can be seen at the GfZK. At its center is the video work O.T., K. T. C. I. (2022), inspired by the Brazilian author and playwright Augusto Boal. Boal called on the participants in his "Theater of the Oppressed" to actively change social and political conditions. They should recognize the ways in which they internalize oppression and how they can overcome the "policeman in their heads". In O.T., K. T. C. I., Kazeem-Kamiński gesturally demonstrates the individual letters of the sentence "Kill the Cop Inside" in a performative exercise.
