For 15 years, the African Film Days Munich have been presenting cinematic perspectives from the African continent - beyond common clichés and media stereotypes.
Especially in times of increasing social exclusion and polarization, we believe it is more important than ever to create spaces for dialogue, togetherness and a change of perspective.
Our anniversary program includes four feature films and one documentary: while a sheika in EVERYBODY LOVES TOUDA dares to make a new start in Casablanca, HANAMI tells the coming-of-age story of young Nana on the Cape Verdean island of Fogo. KATANGA transposes Shakespeare's Macbeth into an African context, FRANTZ FANON sheds light on the work of the anti-colonial pioneer as head physician of a psychiatric clinic in Algeria and OMI NOBU portrays the life of an old man on the Cape Verdean island of São Nicolau who is faced with a difficult decision.
We are particularly looking forward to the film talk with director and co-screenwriter Denise Fernandes after HANAMI and to live music by Kokonelle at this year's opening reception.
We would like to thank everyone who has been with us on this journey so far and look forward to new impulses, discussions and encounters.
