The Hamburg International Queer Film Festival is Germany's oldest, largest and queer film festival from the very beginning. Once a year in October, it attracts around 15,500 visitors to Hamburg's cinemas and various supporting events. This gives it a firm place in Hamburg's cultural landscape.

The aim of the Film Days is to show the audience diverse and current international film productions. The programmed films deal with relevant topics, tell exciting stories and deal with very different personalities. In addition, the festival offers a forum for a socially committed, discussion-worthy and sophisticated film culture. The Film Days are well networked internationally, which is why a lot of festival participants from other countries and of course our invited film guests come to Hamburg every year.
This mix makes the Hamburg International Queer Film Festival an event that is of great interest to the queer community as well as to anyone interested in film and culture.

From the community for the community

Since its beginnings in 1989, the Film Days have become one of the most important events for viewers from Hamburg and the surrounding area. The festival is organized by committed lesbians, gays and queers for the queer community. Workshops, lectures and parties take place alongside the film events. The autonomous N8bar, organized by a team independent of Querbild, provides a nightly programme during the festival week. The pleasant and open atmosphere invites an equal exchange between viewers, directors, guests and members of the team.
