This film is hard to bear - and has to be. Spanish director Albert Serra, whose last feature film PACIFICTION was celebrated worldwide, devotes his latest documentary to bullfighting in all its bloody reality. The film shows torero Andrés Roca Rey at work, in the car before and after the fight and, above all, in the arena. The camera focuses on him and the bull in long takes, the audience remains hidden. A choreography of life and death, a performance of machismo, a tradition, cruelty to animals.
