Opening Reception for Berlin Art Week 2026

As part of Berlin Art Week 2026, we are opening our new exhibition “The Magic of Everyday Life / Simply Here.” The works of Israeli artist Amnon David Ar enter into a special dialogue with those of Kurt Mühlenhaupt—two artists who take life itself as the starting point for their art and discover the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Amnon David Ar draws our attention to the overlooked: childhood objects, toys, portraits, and people in everyday situations. His painting is direct and unmediated—and explores what makes an image honest and where beauty emerges beyond the subject matter.

Kurt Mühlenhaupt, too, painted life as he encountered it. His work in the museum serves as the historical context for Ar’s contemporary pieces.

Two artists, two generations, two different perspectives—united by a love of real life.

Dr. Markus Dröge, spokesperson for the board of the Stiftung Zukunft Berlin, will speak at the opening.

The opening reception will feature musical accompaniment by Yehuda Inbar, the internationally renowned Israeli pianist.
