Another World (kantonesische OmeU) // 40. Fantasy Filmfest // Deutschlandpremiere

Gudo is a “soul keeper” from the afterlife. In ANOTHER WORLD, he must guide the deceased on their journey toward reincarnation. When he encounters a young woman named Yuri, who is desperately searching for her dead brother, Gudo senses that Yuri’s spirit is being consumed by terrible resentment—such overwhelming rage that it threatens to turn her into a monster. To save her, he embarks on a dangerous journey between worlds.

Despite its enchanting, fairy-tale aesthetic and colorful, magical settings, the multiple-award-nominated ANOTHER WORLD—which received an award from the Hong Kong Directors Guild Awards—is unquestionably a film for adults. With Tommy Kai Chung Ng, animation has found a powerful new voice, crafting a dark fantasy adventure and an emotionally stirring parable about loss and grief.
