APOCALYPSE FATIGUE- BEA BRÜCKER- SOLO-AUSSTELLUNG

In the organizer's words:

An exhibition about collective exhaustion, microbial life and more-than-human futures.

We are involved in the destruction of ecosystems until we are no longer part of this world. Despite this, the climate emergency seems to be a low priority in many people's everyday lives. It seems as if we have grown tired of the doom and gloom: We are experiencing a collective apocalypse fatigue.

What does ecological exhaustion feel like? And what happens when humans and microorganisms meet at eye level?

In her first solo exhibition in Hamburg, artist and biodesigner Bea Brücker explores the physical and emotional consequences of the climate crisis as a reality that can be experienced through the senses. Apocalypse Fatigue/ Erschöpfung leads into speculative scenarios in which biological and digital worlds merge: fluorescent corals as the last signs of life, microorganisms as emotional mirrors of our time, algae materials and more-than-human design as bearers of hope for a new coexistence.

The multimedia installation combines biodesign, film, photography and digital art to create an immersive spatial narrative. Clothing made from algae and bacteria serves as a habitat. The focus is on the relationship between humans and nature in the Capitalocene and the question of how we could learn not to dominate other species, but to survive with them. Bea Brücker, at the interface of art, speculative design and research, creates a multi-layered dreamscape between reality and vision with Apocalypse Fatigue/ Erschöpfung , which shows the connection between humans and microorganisms and makes interwoven life tangible.

Creative support by Vincent Goos (animation, digital art & conceptual consulting), Josephine Thiesen (acting), Leon Daniel (camera), Sonja Lesinski (photography), Emal Mahdi (sound design) and with the collaboration of Hollis Hui & Haseong Kim.
