Difference and repetition: otherworldly sound experiments from Leipzig.

Creating something new from repetition itself: That seems to be the quintessence of Arthur Kohlhaas' Feedback Loop. The quartet around the saxophonist, composer and producer knows how to improvise together, eliciting differences from the repetitions, i.e. the feedback loops.

The four young musicians layer sometimes otherworldly sound experiments, sometimes catchy, reduced repetitions over, on and next to each other. During their live performances, their playing is focused but never detached from one another. The collective combines saxophone and piano melodies, plays with otherworldly electronic sounds and condenses them with bubbling double bass depths and noisy yet powerful drum rhythms. Kohlhaas' genre curiosity is also evident, as his experience in soul and pop (such as in the band Violet Greens), hip-hop (in the duo Arytmatix) or his enthusiasm for techno, new wave, Brit pop and dub allow him to draw on a variety of musical traditions.

The quartet first attracted attention in 2022 with their debut EP "One". With four songs, this opens a small window from which it sometimes sounds dark and groovy, sometimes bright and experimental. However, the breadth of their soundscapes can be explored above all during their live performances, in which the four musicians condense tightly meshed cascades of sound and remain versatile throughout.
