Artist Talk with Qusay Awad @qusay_awad_
Moderated by Rand Abou Fakher @rand_aboufakher
Saturday, August 8, 4:00–4:45 p.m.
Bärenzwinger Berlin
Architect and multimedia artist Qusay Awad is currently developing an artistic research project in response to this year’s annual theme, Heimsuchungen / Hauntings.
The research involves archival material, site-specific spatial observations, and field recordings; the project investigates the Bärenzwinger as a place where multiple historical layers overlap. It explores how architecture preserves memory and how traces of past uses continue to resonate within the site.
Developed in conjunction with the gallery’s upcoming 10th anniversary as an art space, the resulting multimedia installation SEDIMENT will open in mid-October 2026.
Join us for a conversation between Qusay Awad and moderator Rand Abou Fakher as they delve into Awad’s artistic practice and research process, accompanied by a sound performance by Marina Cyrino @marina_cyrino.
Rand Abou Fakher is a Syrian filmmaker, film programmer, and multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin, working at the intersection of fiction, documentary, and experimental cinema.
The talk will be held in English.
