Hanover... not a village, but not a big city either. Perhaps it was precisely this indecisiveness that created fertile ground for numerous clubs and stages in Hanover, where rebellious youth celebrated their resistance to the establishment. Some music bands from Hanover also met with a considerable national or even international response.
Rock'n'roll fans, pop, new wave, punk - there was a place, a biotope of subculture for every style of music in the Leinemetropole. And Burkhardt ED Rump was right in the middle of it. With his pride and joy, a Hasselblad camera, in his hand, he was obviously welcome everywhere. The sharp light of his flash freed the people from the darkness of the locations and turned them into stars for a fraction of a second. Despite the offensive nature of the shots, these images are far removed from the usual paparazzi pictures from magazines. No, the people look friendly into the camera because the photographer has a relationship with them. Because they know him and trust him, because he often presents them with pictures. Of course, this scene is often exhibitionistic, posed and over the top. Especially when Burkhardt ED Rump documents fashion shows, pageants or travesty shows. But the way he depicts the individual situations is very open, inviting and not accompanied by prejudices. He photographed what he saw. Up close and authentic. Both the exhibition in the rooms of the ihmeKULT! association and the lavish book by Burkhardt ED Rump offer an exciting insight into this period. By no means dusty.
