Hamburg, Reeperbahn 1960: Five very young, passionate musicians from Liverpool take up an engagement at the INDRA music club. Their names: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe.
The pay is miserable, the accommodations poor, and world fame lies in the dreamy distance. No one yet suspects that music history is being written here, and the "mushroom heads" soon conquer the hearts of the audience.
Promptly the first problems arise: The friendship between the band members is put to the test when Stuart Sutcliffe leaves the band out of love for photographer Astrid Kirchherr, who was the first to shape their image.
"Backbeat - The Beatles in Hamburg" tells of the beginnings of the "Fab Four" and invites the audience on a musical journey through time with titles such as "Love me do" and "I saw her standing there".
