BECOMING KIM
In the organizer's words:
German filmmaker Susanne, who is married to Jeong Rae Kim, a Korean man, turns her camera with humor and tenderness toward her own intercultural marriage and family. As she juggles her roles as wife, mother, and artist, she stages humorous and poetic performances—quiet acts of rebellion that give voice to her feelings and inner world.
Through a mix of observations and staged moments, the film delves into the chaos of love, identity, and cultural clashes.
Both deeply personal and universal, *Becoming Kim* asks: How do we remain true to ourselves—while learning to love another person?
“Twelve years ago, we had ‘Kimchi & Kartoffel’ engraved on our wedding rings. And we thought that was pretty funny. Why do most stories always end just when they’re getting interesting? And: Is love enough?” — Susanne Kim
