"Every person's life story is worth preserving." This is the credo of the Biography Center, the association of German-speaking biographers. It is not only celebrities who commission the writing of life stories; more and more private individuals are also having their memoirs written down: for themselves, for their descendants, as a contemporary document.

This evening, eight biographers will present excerpts from their work. Their heroines and heroes are the protagonists of unusual lives, marked by flight, war experiences, success stories and family secrets brought to light.

• Rachel Fey (Hamburg) about a post-war escape story from Soviet-occupied Königsberg in 1947.
• Sabine Tietjen (Berlin) on a 94-year-old pioneer as the youngest principal in Berlin in the 1950s and the first DGB chairwoman of a state association.
• Dr. Connie Voigt (Bremen) on a 98-year-old Bremen resident with a guardian angel who came through the war unscathed as an HJ.
• Adele von Bünau (Siegen) reads about a hushed-up family story that her son uncovered during his burnout therapy.
• Rose-Marie Hoffmann-Riem (Hamburg) with thoughts from an Afghan immigrant on successful integration.
• Angela Oberthür (Heidelberg) on the stony path of the first female organic wine farmer in the early 1980s.
• Dr. Mareile Seeber-Tegethoff (Braunschweig) on the story of a victim of political arbitrariness in Vietnam.
• Christine Helfritz (Kassel) on a GDR escape story with a reunion with her homeland after 40 years.

This range of biographical insights will be musically framed by the subtle tango sounds of the Duo Amacord with Marco Göhringer-Oberthür on guitar and Angela Oberthür on accordion.
