Bruno Knust and Gerd Kolbe present the history of Dortmund

“Cheers! To Dortmund” will be a joint declaration of love for Dortmund and its grand, exciting, and incredibly diverse history! With these words, the two well-known, long-time “Dortmund ambassadors”—Bruno Knust and Gerd Kolbe—outline their intentions for their first joint program, which will premiere on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

The message from the two Cityring recipients is: “Dortmund is a phoenix rising from the ashes. Since its founding, the city has experienced several major existential crises from which it has emerged stronger and more vibrant than ever. It has, so to speak, reinvented itself time and again and appears to be ‘indestructible.’ This extraordinary resilience and zest for life give us hope for the future as well!”

The program, which runs for a good two hours, is consistently informative and entertaining. The spotlight is on “Radio Tremonia” with its diverse programming and “up-to-date” information about Dortmund—from today, yesterday, and the day before yesterday. It includes many details that even experts on local history are unlikely to have heard before. The formats range from podcasts featuring news and live broadcasts to historical reports. Stefan Hoffmann from Radio 91.2 will be on board as a “radio expert”; Oleg Bordo will provide the musical accompaniment.
