To this day, centuries-old Christmas melodies from the Renaissance and Baroque periods are inextricably linked with the festive season. They evoke memories of Christmases past, offer moments of reflection in hectic times and touch the heart with a special Christmas feeling. In the concert "Hodie Christus natus est", the Calmus Ensemble brings a new shine to this music and presents the entire spectrum of early music: from simple Gregorian chant and polyphonic works from the Renaissance - for example by Guillaume Dufay or Tomás Luis de Victoria - to ornate four-part movements by Michael Praetorius and magnificent Baroque music such as that heard in Johann Hermann Schein's "Israelsbrünnlein".
