Dani, Mark, Rico, Pitbull, and Paul grow up in Leipzig in the years following German reunification—caught up in the frenzy of a time when anything seems possible. Nights of excess and the dream of owning their own techno club drive them on. But a right-wing gang challenges their turf, and the violence escalates. Caught between a sense of new beginnings and a feeling of disorientation, the friends struggle to find their place in their new lives. Andreas Dresen brings Clemens Meyer’s best-selling novel to the screen in a powerful, wild, yet tender film. The screenplay was written by Wolfgang Kohlhaase.
