How far would you go to reach heaven? Eight-year-old Santa (Fernanda Gutiérrez Aranda) explores this question as she sets off on a journey across the stormy plateau of the Bolivian Altiplano to keep a promise to her mother: the young girl is to follow the stars in order to find a way out of the dreary desert and her violent father's outbursts of rage into a mystical paradise.

On her odyssey through the beautiful landscapes of Bolivia, Santa makes all kinds of acquaintances: a disillusioned village priest, a troupe of wild female wrestlers and a gruff policeman who claims to have magical powers all help the main character in their own unique way to get one step closer to her goal.
