Climate Changes Everything. Performative Stadtraumerkundung des Hafens in Köln-Mülheim

Climate Changes Everything is an experimental theater piece about (man-made) extreme weather phenomena and climate history. Equipped with headphones, the audience goes on a performative exploration of the harbor in Cologne-Mülheim.Past ships, jetties and docks, through the port's operating area, some of which is not open to the public. Drama, music and projections guide the audience to several stations.

The exploration of the port area is also a journey through the climate history of our planet, from its beginnings to the present day, to man-made climate change. The development is exemplified by one of the greatest global natural disasters of the early modern era, the ice flood of February 1784, which destroyed large parts of Cologne and cost many lives, but is almost forgotten today. Climate Changes Everything takes up this historical event and links it to the present day, in which extreme weather phenomena can be attributed to man-made climate change. How do we humans deal with this? Do we fail or do we grow from it? What parallels are there between then and now - and what can we learn from the past?

The story of the play is based on the historical novel "Eisflut 1784" (Marco Hasenkopf, Emons Verlag) and is performed at original locations in Mülheimer Hafen in Cologne.
