*Eels & Ghosts* recounts the adventures of two friends, Casimir and Rimsky, during the summer of 1947. They make their money by illegally salvaging the massive wreck of the *Cap Arcona*, which lies in Lübeck Bay. Anna, the daughter of the former local NSDAP group leader, persuades the two to take her to the wreck. Once aboard the ship, an argument breaks out...

Spanning multiple time periods, the story addresses the shelling and sinking of the Cap Arcona in 1945 in Kiel Bay. A crime story set against a historical backdrop that extends into the present day.

Marius Schmidt was born in Braunschweig in 1983, grew up in the Hamburg area, and has lived in Berlin since 2002. He studied fine arts at the UDK Berlin. Since then, he has been writing and producing stories that combine images and text into new narrative formats. From 2006 to 2012, he was co-editor of the literature and art magazine *Pascal Richter*. He subsequently published a photo book on paranoid schizophrenia and illustrated the adventures of an unemployed shrimp.
