COOL COLORS. Ein Familienworkshop mit der Künstlerin Meike Schmidt

Visual artist Meike Schmidt invites children and adults alike on a cross-generational journey of discovery with ice and paint. Melting ice becomes a paintbrush, leaving fleeting traces and opening up new ways of painting. Together, participants will explore how movement, transience, and chance give rise to images—and how art becomes a sensory, open-ended process in the process.

In her artistic practice, which encompasses abstract painting and spatial works,Meike Schmidtfollows a logic of emergence. Drawing on process-oriented approaches, she creates paintings and site-specific works that aim less at unambiguous statements than at relationships, transitions, and tensions.
Her painting moves between reduction and difference, between control and allowing the unforeseen to occur. Each work develops step by step as an open structure of placements, reactions, and condensations.
At the same time, her sculptures and spatial works enter into a dialogue with her paintings. By working with light, water, materials, and found objects, they engage with the space in a direct way. Meaning is not fixed within the work but rather emerges through the process and the viewer’s perception.
