Daniel Barenboim & West-Eastern Divan Orchestra | Festliche Saisoneröffnung
In the organizer's words:
A season opener dedicated to peace: The West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, founded 26 years ago by Daniel Barenboim and Edward Said, is performing at the Konzerthaus Dortmund. Since its beginnings in the Middle East, where it was originally intended to foster understanding between Palestinians and Israelis through music, it has since evolved into an ensemble with a global reach. It stands, like almost no other orchestra, for dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect. A musical voice that embodies the idea of peace far beyond borders and builds bridges where politics and society fail. Daniel Barenboim will personally take the podium this evening to conduct a program that reflects longing, new beginnings, and renewal.

Daniel Barenboim, conductor
