Danko Rabrenović "Yu-Box"
Balkanizer Standup Musical
Musician, comedian, author and host of the cult radio show "Balkanizer" is back on tour: with his new stand-up program "Yu-Box". As a storyteller with guitar, Danko Rabrenović finds a new form somewhere between concert, reading, stand-up and cabaret. In his witty and at the same time profound stage program, he laughs, sings and reflects on topics that have long preoccupied him: language, exile, identity, culture shocks, feelings of home, nationalism, integration, migration background and much more. Musically, Rabrenović draws on the rich musical heritage of the former Yugoslavia and, as a "living jukebox," fulfills the audience's one or two musical wishes.
Danko Rabrenović was born in Zagreb, grew up in Belgrade and lived with his parents in Beijing for three years as a child. Shortly after the outbreak of the Yugoslavian war, he came to Germany. For eleven years he hosted the cult radio program 'Balkanizer' on WDR Funkhaus Europa. So far, two books have been published by him, 'Der Balkanizer. A Jugo in Germany' and 'Herzlich willkommencić. Heimatgeschichten vom Balkanizer' (DuMont). Rabrenović is also the singer and guitarist of the ska-punk band Trovači.
