Exciting, improvised music from Berlin with harmonic structures for electric guitar, piano and drums.
In 2016, a few years after studying together in Dresden, drummer Leon Griese, pianist Marius Moritz and guitarist Paul Peuker met again in Berlin for a joint jam session. And although the musicians hadn't seen each other for a long time, the chemistry was right straight away. They didn't have to work out a typical band sound; it emerged naturally from the freely improvised interplay of the individual characters and created images of a cool, mysterious landscape in the listener's imagination. This evoked associations with Caspar David Friedrich's painting "The Sea of Ice", and the band's name and direction were clear:
Shimmering electric guitar melodies meet gently driving drum grooves and gentle, lyrical piano chords, creating a stirring pull into unknown musical realms. The result of this first session was recorded spontaneously and released as the band's first EP for download. Since then, Das Eismeer has always lived up to its reputation as an exciting live band that leaves its enthusiastic audience with the realization:
"This is how emotional and captivating improvised music can sound."
