Declan Welsh & The Decadent West on tour in Germany in November

Declan Welsh & The Decadent West, affectionately abbreviated DWDW by fans, hail from Glasgow and are characterized by insightful, introspective and intelligent lyrics, catchy hooks and a rousing live show. Busy songwriter Welsh and his band - Duncan McBride on guitar, Ben Corlett on bass and Murray Noble on drums - have already released four EPs and 2019 album Cheaply Bought, Expensively Sold, all to critical acclaim. The debut caught the attention of Mercury Award-winning producer Gianluca Buccaletti, who confesses, "I've been waiting a long time to work with a band like DWDW." Together they recorded the second record with the catchy title "2", to be released in September, on which the guys have significantly expanded their horizons. Already at their fantastic performance at St. Pauli Church at the 2018 Reeperbahn Festival, one could hear the wide spectrum of influences, ranging from mid-range Radiohead to the electric-tinged New Romantics of the '80s. Welsh wrote the songs for "2" alone in his bedroom, where he also recorded the demos. Then, in the studio, the sound changed completely once again. The band has matured while maintaining the biting lyricism and melodic focus of the earlier works. "2" evokes the experience of coming to terms with a world in which we increasingly feel alone and uncertain, and deals with themes of self-doubt, isolation and apathy towards global conflict embedded in lush harmonies, synthesizer harmonies and bass grooves. In November, Declan Welsh & The Decadent West will come to us on tour with the new material.
