Der Fluss drückt von unten
In the organizer's words:
As part of Kulturlinie 2026, Part 2 of the “Gänsebahnhof” event series will take place, transforming the historic train station building in Bochum Dahlhausen into a temporary cultural venue.
Group exhibition “Der Fluss drückt von unten” from September 11–12, 2026, with a grand opening on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the “Gänsebahnhof” Dahlhausen (Otto-Wels-Platz, 44879 Bochum).
The historic Dahlhausen train station building stands on and along the Ruhr River. Its constant flow is always palpable here, even when it cannot be seen. “The River Presses Up From Below” takes this proximity as its starting point:
The river physically presses against the building where the exhibition is taking place, while simultaneously becoming a metaphor for a state of constant change. Four artists approach the “river” in very different ways: Fabia Bürger, Charlotte Hilbolt, Xenia Prüßner, and Yasin Wörheide.
At the same time, visitors can experience the audio walk “Wut-Hering heizt” by the Lockströmung Collective (please bring your own headphones and smartphone). A QR code is posted at the building’s entrance that directs visitors to the audio walk’s website.
