To mark its 20th anniversary, the German-Israeli Literature Days 2025 are asking what role literature plays in times of political and social tensions - a place of retreat or a space of opportunity? On June 19 and 22, we will read, think and discuss together in Berlin.
19 June, 18:00 - Ceremony with music, welcome by representatives of the organizing institutions and panel "Finding Words" with Dror Mishani and Kathrin Röggla on language in times of crisis. Moderation: Shelly Kupferberg.
June 22, from 14:30 - Visual Lecture "Album Darom" by Dana Arieli.
From 16:00 readings and discussions with Maya Arad Yasur, Mati Shemoelof, Odeh Bisharat, Assaf Gavron and Dietmar Dath, among others, on the topics "Getting into conversation with each other" and "Thinking ahead".
7:30 p.m.: Closing with Volker Gerling's flip-book cinema presentation "Portraits in Motion " - a moving photographic narrative about the aftermath of October 7.
