»Die Bibel – Texte, Gedichte und Lieder aus dem Alten Testament« – Rezitationsabend
In the organizer's words:
The writings of the Bible are over two thousand years old. Famous poets—such as Goethe, Heine, Schiller, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Morgenstern, Ringelnatz, Tucholsky, Kästner, Brecht, and others—were very familiar with the Bible. Their texts often contain motifs based on biblical stories. It is these stories in the Old Testament—which Heinrich Heine called the “national book of the Jews”—that actually contain all the stories that we, as modern people today, even in the age of the Internet, can experience among ourselves and with one another. And so this is not about theology, but rather a literary journey through the history of the people of Israel, from Abraham to Jesus.
Free admission • Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
An evening of recitation by and featuring Jürgen Ebbing.
