Romy can't sleep. Nightmares keep her awake. Lying next to her in bed is her new boyfriend Florian, an up-and-coming Austrian politician. At the same time, the young real estate agent Jelena is selling houses in Croatia that she could never afford herself and dreams of emigrating. Both women are connected by a past that has long been hushed up, which ultimately leads to a fateful encounter.
The new play "Emina" by Ivan Vlatkovic was nominated this year for the international Edith and Werner Rieder Prize for new drama and received the audience prize in the competition. In the text, third-year students at the Otto Falckenberg School deal with questions of identity and belonging in the midst of a Europe that is steadily moving to the right.
The "Stage for Democracy" organizes cultural events to promote democratic goals, civic engagement and political education. Admission is on a donation basis. The proceeds raised are donated to a project that promotes democracy. The artists therefore waive their fee.
