Our new program kicks off after the summer break! “Hocus pocus, toad’s egg, bring me a white cloud at once!”
The fall season of children’s cinema kicks off after the summer break with October’s “Children’s Film of the Month,”THE LITTLE WITCH (ages 6 and up), the best-known film adaptation of Otfried Preußler’s world-famous children’s book classic. This cheeky and funny adaptation charms with its lovely set design, many thoughtful details, and atmospheric imagery, effortlessly striking a balance between suspense and humor. Preußler’s original book is a plea for moral courage, self-determination, and kindness of heart, and stands against exclusion and blind obedience. The film shows children (and adults) that it’s worth standing up for what’s right—even when powerful authorities demand the opposite.

Synopsis:The Little Witch has a big problem: at 127 years old, she’s far too young to dance with the other witches on Walpurgis Night. So she sneaks into the most important of all witch festivals—and is promptly caught! She deliberately ignored the warnings and advice of her talking raven, Abraxas, and now she’s paying the price for her recklessness: Her broom ends up in the fire, and she has to walk the long, rocky path home, heavily laden with the thick book of spells she’s supposed to memorize.

📽️ 40 Years of the Children’s Cinema Office: Since 1986, the “Children’s Film of the Month” has been screened on a daily rotating basis at 23 Berlin cinemas—in the mornings for school classes and daycare groups | in the afternoons and on weekends for after-school care groups and families.

🎟️ Admission for children is a maximum of €4.50, and the group rate is €4.00 per person.
