Die Sonne der Hyänen
In the organizer's words:
40 Years of Allerweltskino - Anniversary Program
Allerweltskino is turning 40. To mark this special occasion, we’re delving deep into our history and screening “The Sun of the Hyenas,” a film from the early days of our program.
Life in a Tunisian fishing village is severely disrupted when representatives of a German tourism conglomerate arrive, having chosen the village as the site for a modern resort. With the construction of the hotels begins the destruction of the fishermen’s way of life and the disintegration of the village community.
With its intelligent, unobtrusive style and eye-opening critique, this film by Tunisian director Ridha Behi is a must-see commentary on tourism in countries of the Global South—one that was far ahead of its time when it was released in 1977.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the Allerweltskino invites the public to attend this event free of charge ! Please reserve your spot here.
