The film "The Statics of Dreams" by Filippa Bauer provides insights into a largely unknown aspect of migration: many of the so-called "guest workers" from the former Yugoslavia have built dream homes in the countries they left behind. Remaining in shell form, carefully furnished or now threatened by decay, they are mostly uninhabited. The houses bear witness to the planned but repeatedly postponed return from Germany and now represent a challenge for the next generation.

The Dokomotive platform is showing the film as part of a very special cinema tour in places that are close to the people portrayed in the film and their community. For our next screening in Stuttgart, we are heading to the workshop of protagonist Predrag and converting it into a makeshift Dokomotive cinema.
