„Die Stille ertasten mit dem Wort“ – Lyrik auf Melaten
In the organizer's words:
Tour
Poetry at Melaten
On this walking tour through the famous cemetery, Cologne-based actress Renate Fuhrmann recites poems by well-known and lesser-known female poets. Historian Irene Franken provides insights into the lives and selected works of the poets, as well as the biographies of those buried here, where applicable.
The selected texts (curated by Irene Franken) explore the themes of grief, loss, and dying through various forms of expression, while also conveying hope or even humor in the face of death. They include works by women from Cologne as well as by internationally recognized “great” female poets.
The audience will be introduced to poems by Rose Ausländer, Christa Reinig, Emilie Emma von Hallberg, Annette von Droste Hülshoff, Claire Goll, Minna Bachem-Sieger, Dorothee Sölle, and Nelly Sachs.
