Divertimento / heißt Vergnügen - Hemelingen klingt!
In the organizer's words:
“Music is meant to entertain!” Under this motto, the woodwind quintet of Ensemble Planetaris will present its program “Divertissement” at Hemelingen klingt! 2026.Following last year’s “Melancholia” program, which was set in a minor key, the ensemble offers a stark contrast with “Divertimento,” presenting a colorful bouquet of classical works that capture all the sunny and shadowy sides of life—always, of course, with a twinkle in the eye and an optimistic outlook on the future! The term “Divertissement” (French for “pastime”) originally referred to the amusements of the French nobility at court and later came to denote a dance suite, as well as the opulent conclusion of an act in opera or theater, often featuring dancers or a choir. In the Italian word “divertimento” (Italian for “pleasure”), we encounter this “aristocratic pastime” once again in the form of a distinct musical genre. The term “divertimento” referred to a pleasing arrangement of movements from a suite, usually of an entertaining, cheerful, or dance-like character. This included evening music such as the famous serenades or serenatas, as well as music for banquets or open-air performances. The idea of edification, of finding peace, and of recharging through the enjoyment of pleasant music is—and always has been—a fundamental human need and a truly timeless theme. A theme that reaffirms its significance especially in today’s world. The Ensemble Planetaris curates works of classical chamber music for the edification of its audience and performs them on historically authentic instruments—colorfully, freshly, and cheerfully! The woodwind quintet of Ensemble Planetaris: Felipe Egaña: traverso; Motoko Matsuda-Jaser: oboe; Bernhard Kösling: clarinet; Markus Meyer: horn; Martin Jaser: bassoon
