Dresdner Kreuzchor | Kreuzchorvesper
In the organizer's words:
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., the Dresden Kreuzchor invites you to a special Kreuzchor Vespers service at the Kreuzkirche in Dresden. Marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of the unforgettable chamber singer Theo Adam, this musical celebration combines moving choral music with personal memories.
The highlight of the afternoon will be Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantata “Warum betrübst du dich, mein Herz” (BWV 138). The multifaceted program will be enriched by choral works by Giovanni Gabrieli, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Oskar Wermann, and Jan Arvid Prée. In addition, Kreuz Church organist Holger Gehring will perform masterful organ pieces.
Elisabeth Wilke, delivering the eulogy, and Florian Hartfiel, Theo Adams’s grandson, will offer personal insights through their own memories and solo singing. Together with soloists Taras Semenov and Henryk Böhm, the Dresden Kreuzchor and the Dresden Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra will perform under the direction of Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann.
You are cordially invited to an atmospheric afternoon of commemorative thanksgiving.
