The Emil Brandqvist Trio has become a permanent fixture on the European jazz circuit and enjoys greater popularity with each album, reaching position 3 in the German jazz charts , for example. The success of the three Norsemen becomes really impressive when you look at the digital music world, because their compositions have now been streamed nearly 50 million times and made them, for example in North America, important representatives of Nordic jazz music, in which strong melodies and sophisticated arrangements combine to form concise and always atmospheric pieces. Gothenburg drummer and composer Emil Brandqvist and his trio partners Max Thornberg on double bass and Tuomas A. Turunen on piano , who have been constant for six albums now , move with dreamlike ease through worlds of sound that are as poetic as they are pictorial. It is fair to say that this trio is one of the few in Europe that have found a sound all their own, one that has been euphorically celebrated by audiences. The new album "Layers Of Life" is undoubtedly the highlight of their work so far. Thirteen new songs from the pen of Emil Brandqvist convince with filigree, highly complex and yet so catchy arrangements, in one of the central pieces of the album, "Solitude" was also involvedas a co-author Finnish pianist Tuomas A.
