Exkursion ins Siebengebirge: Auf den Spuren von August Sander
In the organizer's words:
IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF AUGUST SANDER: DAY TRIP TO THE SIEBENGEBIRGE
The multifaceted landscape around the Rhine and the Siebengebirge has been photographed many times by August Sander from various vantage points. Gerhard Fleischer, who planned the excursion and will be accompanying the group, has set out to follow in August Sander’s footsteps. Through years of research, he has located and visited Sander’s vantage points and photographed the scenes he encountered there. The changes in the landscape and the environment are thus revealed in a striking way.
The excursion takes participants to a total of six locations, beginning in Erpel and ending at the Heisterbach monastery ruins. There, participants will have the opportunity to stop for refreshments at the Klosterstube.
The excursion is part of the exhibition“August Sander – On the 150th Anniversary of His Birth,” which will be on view from September 11, 2026, through January 24, 2027, at the Photographic Collection / Kultur der Sparkasse KölnBonn Foundation.
