The Fancy Women Bike Ride is coming up again soon! 🚲

🌻 What? Let’s ride our bikes together, wear our favorite outfits, and make women visible in public spaces!

The Fancy Women Bike Ride (FWBR) is a cycling event for women, organized by women, that originated in Turkey. The goal: to make women and FLINTA* visible in public spaces, encourage cycling, and celebrate the feeling of freedom on a bike. 💜

The bicycle has always been a symbol of female self-empowerment—and even though women in Germany are, of course, allowed to ride bikes, they don’t do so as often or as naturally as men. There are structural and societal reasons for this: in addition to unsafe infrastructure, for example, there’s also the traditional division of roles, in which women are more often accompanied by children or carrying groceries. Men shouldn’t be the sole standard for bike path planning—that’s why we’re taking to the streets!

The route is a leisurely 10-kilometer ride through the city, with short breaks along the way. The police will accompany and secure the bike ride. FLINTA* people, beginner cyclists, and children are all welcome. Men are welcome to join in if they also dress up and ride at the back of the group. ✌️

How can you get ready? Tell your moms, grandmoms, daughters, and friends about the ride, pack your favorite outfit, and decorate your bikes with colorful decorations! ❤️💜💛💚🧡
