FILM FSFF 2026: SILENT FRIEND

(September 5, 2026, 8:00 p.m., Kino Gauting: Film discussion with actress Luna Wedler)

In the heart of a botanical garden in a medieval university town in Germany stands a majestic ginkgo tree. For over a century, this silent witness has observed the quiet rhythm of change across three human lifetimes.
In 1908, the first female student at the University of Marburg discovers, through the lens of her camera, an order in the small things—in the leaf, in the plant tissue. In 1972, a young student has an almost existential experience through a simple geranium. Finally, in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, a neuroscientist from Hong Kong finds himself stranded at the university and begins to explore the mysterious connections between humans and plants.
