Filmpremiere & Talk: „Wer weiß schon, was ein Leben ist?“
In the organizer's words:
What's it about?
Marking the 150th birthday of painter Paula Modersohn-Becker
Today, Paula Modersohn-Becker is considered one of the most important artists of the modern era—yet during her lifetime, she sold hardly a single painting. To mark the 150th anniversary of her birth, a young actress (played by Katharina Stark) sets out to trace the life of an extraordinary woman. Traveling between Worpswede and Paris, she explores Paula Modersohn-Becker’s life, work, and philosophy. The deeper she delves into Modersohn-Becker’s world, the more this quest becomes a journey of self-discovery. The result is a poetic film about artistic freedom, female self-determination, and the timeless question: Who really knows what a life is?
After the screening
Following the film, we look forward to a discussion with directors Annelie Boroș and Vera Brückner. Together, we’ll take a look behind the scenes and talk about the extraordinary life of painter Paula Modersohn-Becker, whose work continues to have an impact far beyond her short lifetime.
