Lotti is responsible for keeping the machines running at the Thyssenkrupp plant in Gelsenkirchen. She also has to work herself. As a queer woman, she is under particular scrutiny in the male-dominated world of steel. As a trade unionist, she fights for cohesion, even though she knows that there are many AfD supporters among her colleagues. "Democracy thrives on dialog." The 27-year-old is tirelessly on the move, between tradition and the green transformation of the blast furnaces. And slips into yet another role after work: as a carer for her father, who has cancer.
