Quirky, shrill, weird!

For a long time, peace and harmony reigned in high-tech Gandahar. The perfect utopia. But the idyll comes under threat when a malevolent force appears on the scene and roaming creatures turn the inhabitants into stones. The Council of Women has chosen Sylvain to confront the invaders. He and his companion Airelle receive help on their mission from the equally threatened Transformed, who are the result of a failed genetic experiment. It soon becomes clear that the metamorph is behind everything, a giant brain, the unwanted result of Gandahar's research. A thousand years later, Sylvain confronts him in the final battle.

GANDAHAR, the peculiar third and final feature film by animation legend René Laloux, which receives its German premiere in this edition, has been cultishly revered abroad for decades, just like its two predecessor films THE WILD PLANET and DESTROYER OF TIME. GANDAHAR is also political and thought-provoking. And this time, the worlds created by legendary comic artist Caza are mixed with sexuality and violence.
