In the organizer's words:

In 2017, physicist Stephen Hawking stated that he believed humanity would survive for only another 600 years before the Earth turned into a “blazing fireball,” marking its end.

With his new work *AUSGEDIENT*, Gerd Reutter responds to this prediction. Crafted from clay and glazed, the resulting object explores transience, wear and tear, and the finitude of human endeavor. In addition, as part of the exhibition *VORZEICHEN*, other works by the artist from the years 2015–2026 are on view. Gerd Reutter will be present daily and looks forward to discussing his art with you.

Opening: Saturday, October 10, 2026, 3:00 p.m.

Hosted by: Dr. Christine Schumann, Executive Director of Künstlernachlässe Mannheim
Introduction: Luisa Heese, Acting Director of the Kunsthalle Mannheim

Exhibition: October 10–31, 2026
Hours: Daily, 3–6 p.m.; the artist will be present
