Journalist and author Annika Brockschmidt in conversation with Rebecca C. Schmidt (Administrative Director of the FGZ)
In the history of the Republican Party and the religious right in the USA, men are often in the foreground in observation and analysis. But the movement would not be where it is today without right-wing women. What role have right-wing and far-right women played in the US religious and political right in recent decades? From historical fighters against women's rights such as Phyllis Schlafly to their contemporary successors such as Allie Beth Stuckey, the lecture shows which roles and topics women occupy in right-wing and far-right spaces in the public sphere - and what function they fulfill. We analyse (with a focus on the USA) the current forms that anti-feminist activism takes online, look at the motivation of the respective influencers - and how they package anti-feminist, LGBTQ-hostile and racist ideology as pastel Instagram content to radicalize a new generation of young women.
