Gina Schwarz meets Nick Drake: The Austrian jazz bassist and composer was inspired by the British folk singer and guitarist to create a brilliant project. Nick Drake (1948-1974) became a cult star after his early death, and his music continues to inspire to this day thanks to its beauty, transparency and a depth that is often tinged with desperate melancholy. Gina Schwarz captures all of this with a powerful orchestra: The woodwind section unites almost the entire clarinet family, plus various flutes and a rhythm section that continuously builds up tension: melodic, percussive, melancholic and yet full of vitality.
