Halbtrocken & Mende [LIVE] (20 Jahre Kulturhaus 73)
In the organizer's words:
"Semi-dry" falls somewhere in between. Neither sad nor happy—or perhaps both at once. Neither minor nor major, but rather a floating ambivalence. The music draws on the Laurel Canyon sound of the ’60s; it’s narrative, sometimes groovy, at times stomping and driving. With a blend of folk and noir romance, the songs capture life in all its nuances: bittersweet, dreamy, semi-dry.
In the wake of their shadows, you’ll find lyrics that describe these nuances. Mende doesn’t sugarcoat anything, yet she stays true to the details and, with powerful vocals, evokes a sense of nostalgia that lingers in your mind. When asked whether it’s always worth fighting, her last two tracks, “Odyssee” and “Romeo,” offer a moving answer. With a soundscape that breaks through the boundaries of R&B and indie as we know them and blurs the lines between the two, Mende is on the very cusp of a breakthrough, drawing inspiration from artists like Schmyt, Romy, and Maïa.
Free admission!
The concert is part of “Hausparty – 20 Years of Haus 73.”
